Coffee as Art

Now I wouldn't be able to justify depending on this cup of joe for my morning jolt, but if you look at it as a discretionary-income expenditure it makes a lot of sense. $3.25 gets you this tall latte, which unlike most places includes two shots. It's fair trade, organic, and will probably get you laid if you need it to. But what impressed me was that it had a spiced, herbal complexity not entirely unlike a glass of wine. I paired it with a cinnamon chocolate Mighty-O donut for $1.50 (a fancy Seattle ring of fried, vegan dough). Besides, this cafe drips atmosphere. It's smack dab in the middle of a residential street in the Loyal Heights neighborhood of Seattle, one of those places that back in the day was a corner grocery or something. Now they pay their baristas a "living wage".
