Wine Tasting

Maple Leaf Wine Cellar - nestled in a small store front on Roosevelt, this wine store does one of the best wine tastings we have ever been to, complete with cheese and salami, and welcoming to man's best friend. Tonight's tasting was New Zealand wines (6 pours, 3 white, 3 red, for a mere $2 donation, that was waived on account of inclement weather), guided by an actual Kiwi who came prepared with illustrative maps and Lord of the Rings references (it was filmed largely in New Zealand's prime wine growing region). We bought a bottle of Cat Phee on a Gooseberry Bush, one of the cheaper bottles tasted, named for the unique ammonia nose and gooseberry fruit of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, sold at a significant discount, as are all the wines featured. Check this place out!!! Tasting schedule online at www.mapleleafcellar.com.
